What Changed — Effective August 16, 2026

Here's what changed and why.

1. 1.This policy now covers buyers only. Commversar's buyer and merchant services now run on separate platforms. This policy explains how we handle your information as a buyer. If you're a merchant, our merchant privacy policy on the merchant platform applies to you instead.
2. 2.What we collect is now grouped by how we collect it. Under "Information We Collect," you'll now see two groups: what we collect automatically as you browse (your browsing activity, what products you interact with, and basic device information — you're deemed to have accepted this by using the platform), and what we collect when you register (your name, contact details, gender, and — if you sign in with Google — your Google profile information). We've also removed "landmark university" as something we collect, since we no longer ask you to select one.
3. 3.New section: How We Collect Your Information. This is now its own section, right after "Information We Collect." It states that we collect data both through cookies/local storage as you browse and through what you provide when you register.
4. 4.Old "Cookies and Local Storage" section removed. It repeated what's now covered by "Information We Collect" and the new "How We Collect Your Information" section, so we removed it rather than saying the same thing three times.
5. 5.Account deletion instructions corrected. The old policy pointed to an "Account Center" deletion option that doesn't exist yet. To request deletion of your account, contact [email protected].
6. 6.You can now request correction of your name and gender. Previously, name and gender couldn't be corrected after registration. That restriction is gone — you can request correction of any of your information, including name and gender, by contacting us.
7. 7.Removed outdated age/verification wording. We removed a line about ID verification for civilian users, since we no longer offer identity verification on this platform. Age guidance for buyers under 18 now lives in the Terms of Use, and this policy points there instead of repeating it.
8. 8.New: what we collect when you make a purchase. Since Commversar now processes payments and handles some deliveries, we've added a category for payment information (processed via M-Pesa) and delivery address, collected when you make a purchase.
9. 9.Data sharing now names M-Pesa. We share the payment details necessary to process your purchase with M-Pesa. Everything else about data sharing stays the same — we don't share your information with any other third party.
10. 10.New: how long we keep your data after deletion. If you request deletion of your account, we now keep your data for up to 30 days before permanently deleting it, so you have time to change your mind.
11. 11.Contact Us is no longer a numbered section. It's folded into the introduction and the closing line, matching the structure of our other buyer policies.
12. 12.New: links out to our other buyer policies. Payment information now points to the Buyer Protection Policy for how that payment is held and protected, delivery address points to the Shipping and Returns Policy, and age guidance points to the Terms of Use.
13. 13.Updated dates. Effective Date and Last Updated are now August 16, 2026.
